How we grade condition

Every copy is one book

Every listing is a single copy with its own photos and condition, so there is no restocking. If we hold more than one copy of a title, each is listed separately. We confirm a book is still here before taking payment.

    Photos (the first is the cover)

    Add the cover, an inside page and the back. Include a sharp photo of the barcode and the ISBN is read from it on your computer or phone.

      Add a photo that shows the barcode and it is read automatically.

      "Fill details from ISBN" and "Look up by title and author" ask openlibrary.org, a free public book catalogue, for the title, author, year, binding and a best guess at the age group. They are the only things in the admin that contact another website, and only when you press them.

      Publish to folder writes into a folder you choose (Chrome or Edge; choose it in Shop settings). Download update gives you a zip to unpack over your website files. Neither needs the publisher service.

      Needed for shared links to show the cover photo and price in Facebook, Trade Me and similar. The address of the folder that holds index.html, with no page name on the end.

      Leave blank and shoppers send you their order by email, as before. With the requests service set up, a request puts the books on hold and hides them from other shoppers.

      Publish folder (Chrome and Edge)

      Pick the folder your server serves (a mapped network drive works). "Publish to folder" then writes the update into it, so there is no zip to unpack.

      Used by Review (leave the price empty and press Enter) and by the Table's "Use the usual prices".
